He stamped his authority on the race from the start and
steadily increased his lead to more than six lengths.
This is the first time he has won this particular championship in a
long rowing career.
Matt Allsopp also also won his event, the junior sculls. Again, he
established an early lead and was never challenged, sculling
comfortably in the last 500m to win by five lengths.
Ben Churchill in the novice sculls was well placed at the buoy turn
but overshot the mark and was disqualified.
The senior four had a poor row, looking rushed and rowing with a very
short stroke compared with BTC who simply moved away with every
stroke. Nevertheless, the Ryde crew was still able to keep any other
contenders away and finished a comfortable second with the B crew
sixth.
