Bournemouth Regatta. Saturday, 4th August, 2007.

Another fine win for Wightlink Sponsored Ryde Rowing Club's Matt Allsopp in the Mens Senior Sculls event closed the gap on Club rival and reigning Hants & Dorset Champion Nick Pike to within one point at Bournemouth Regatta on Saturday. The outcome of this Championship will now be decided at the last Regatta of the Hants & Dorset season - at BTC on the 18th of August. A win for Matt at this Regatta will force a row-off for the Championship. Ryde dominated the Senior Sculls final with Nick Pike finishing second and the Clubs Mike Jenner in 4th and Ashley Maitland, sculling for the Club for the first time this season in 5th.

However there was disappointment for Matt when he joined his crew mates Mike Jenner, Ben Ade and Ian Hayden and Bryony Reeve cox for the Men's Senior Fours Final where after difficulties at the turn they could only finish in 4th place - just ahead of the B Crew of Adam Dracott, Stu Johnson, Matt Evans and Nick Pike with Becky Butt coxing.

The Mens Junior Crew of James Eklund, Callum Lowe, Tom Clark and Jamie Lawson did not fair much better also finishing 5th in their final although the Junior Pair of Tom Clark and Robin Kersey continued to impress finishing 2nd in their race. Tom Clark then went onto finish 2nd in the Mens Novice Sculls event where the Club still has an outside chance of a share in the Hants & Dorset Championship.

In the Junior Sculls Ben Ade maintained his form to finishing 3rd with Ian Hayden racing for the first time as a Junior Sculler in 5th place.
