Wightlink sponsored Ryde Rowing Club continued their preparation for the new Coastal season with a visit to Burway, near Staines, for their Eights and Fours Head Race on Saturday, 16th February.

Five Ryde crews competed over two divisions in the 3k time trial with crews starting in status around ten seconds apart.

Best performance of the day came from the Ryde Senior Crew, of Mike Jenner, Ben Ade, Matt Allsop and Ian Hayden with Bryony Reeve coxing, in the Men's Senior 2 Coxed Fours which they won in a time of 10 minutes 27 seconds, beating, among others, a crew from Southampton based local rivals Itchen Imperial.

The same crew, less coxswain, competed as a Senior 2 Coxless four in the second division, putting up a slightly faster time of 10 minutes 19 seconds, but finishing second to a crew from the host Club Burway.

The Men's Senior Four coxed four of Tim Wiggins, Callum Lowe, Tom Clark, Sam Cocker with Bryony Reeve coxing also competed in the 2nd division and also managed a second place in their status finishing in a time of 11mintes 24 second.

The Ladies Senior Three Coxed Four of Emiley Page, Aimee Dibbens, Hayley Edwards, Sophie Draper and cox Adam Edwards finished 3rd in their section in a time of 13 minutes 34 seconds and the Mens Novice Coxed Four of Mark Spall, Tim Wiggins, Callum Lowe and Josh Collyer with Elanor Gaskin coxing finished 6th in a very competitive section with a time of 12 minutes 15 seconds.
