CHRISTCHURCH REGATTA, 13th AUGUST, 2005.
Ryde Rowing Club competed at Christchurch Regatta and in the absence of
any racing in small boats due to the course
restrictions the Club had to rely on
its fours crews maintain the momentum of what is turning out to be a very
successful season for the Wightlink sponsored Club.
With two Hants & Dorset Championships secured the Club is closing on a
third following an impressive win at the
Regatta for their Novice Ladies Crew of
Rachael Middle, Amiee Dibbens, Hayley Edwards and Rachael Whitmarsh,
coxed by Kim Salter after battling through several
rounds in the two boat racing at this Regatta. A
second win at one of the remaining two Regattas would
secure the Novice Ladies Championship for the Club.
The Clubs Junior Men's Crew, all ready crowned Hants & Dorset Champions
secured a second win for the Club with another impressive display. The
Crew was Con and Christy Sullivan, Sam Cocker
and Ben Churchill, coxed by Jodie Cocker.
A third win came in the Men's J16 event, where the crew of James Eklund,
Jamie Lawson, Tom Clark and a Christchurch Junior substituting for the
injured Tom Cleary and coxed by Kim Salter also won their final with
comparative ease. The same three young Ryde Oarsman, with Juniors from
Poole and BTC covering for the injured Tom also
competed as Novice Men and in a
J16 Quad but failed to make the final in these events.
The Men's Senior Crew of Ben Ade, Matt Allsopp, Mike Jenner and Ian Hayden
travelled with high hopes of success but unfortunately went the wrong
side of a lane marker in their heat and were
disqualified.
The Men's J/S crew of Chris Walker, Matt Bull, Stu Johnson and Ollie
Bottrell, with Jamie Lawson coxing lost in their final to the
Championship leaders Christchurch.
In the Junior Ladies fours both the A and B crew were defeated in their

Kim Salter, Sarah Lamb, Sophie Draper and Rachael
Brimstone, coxed by Jasmine Burr-Hersey and the B Crew

Attrill with Tom Clark coxing. The A Crew then went on to compete
in the J16 event where they were knocked out in
the semi-final by a Poole crew.
