Coalporters Junior Regatta 11th July 09

On the Sunday the Clubs Junior section competed at the Coalporters Junior Regatta, on the River Itchen, in Southampton, returning to the Island with three wins. Harvey Kirkby, in only his third race for the Club, showed great promise winning the J12 Open Single Sculls. In the J13 Single Sculls the Club had three Scullers racing - Dale Buckett and Max Reeve just failing to make the final but Sam Corney winning his heat fairly comfortably before taking the final in a very close race. A third win for the Club came in the Boys J12 Open double which Harvey Kirkby and Harry Batchelor won fairly comfortably. Leona Fisk competed in the Girls J16 single finishing in 3^rd place and then teamed up with Emiley Camm to compete in a Girls J16 double where they also finished 3^rd but in both cases they were racing up a year due to lack of entries in their age group so were competing against older girls. The Boys J13 Quad of Dale Buckett, Sam Corney, Harry Batchelor and Max Reeve with cox Tom Clark had the same problem being forced to race in the J14 event where they once again finished in 3^rd place.
