AMATEUR ROWING ASSOCIATION

NATIONAL JUNIOR ROWING PROGRAMME

"GO-ROW" ACCREDITATION

gorow.bmp (10982 bytes)

Ryde Rowing has successfully gained accreditation as a "Go-Row" Club under the Amateur Rowing Associations National Junior Rowing Programme - the first Island Club to receive this award and one of only three to receive accreditation in Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight. The award acknowledges the success of Ryde Rowing Clubs very successful youth Programme.

To gain accreditation the Ryde Club, who are sponsored by Wightlink Isle of Wight Ferries, had to meet the criteria laid down by the Amateur Rowing Association including affiliation to the ARA; adoption of the ARA’s Child Protection Policy and Procedures; strong Club management; qualified coaches; warm, dry and well lit facilities and a range of equipment - including boats specially designed for teaching new oarsman and women. The Clubs senior Coaches had to make a presentation to Bryan Wilson, one of the Amateur Rowing Associations full time Coaching Development Officers who visited the Club to inspect the facilities and equipment and to carry out a full Safety Inspection - all of which met the exacting criteria laid down by the ARA.

As a "Go-Row" Club Ryde will have access to all the National Junior Rowing Programme materials to assist in the delivery of their Junior Rowing Programme and will receive priority advise from Regional Coaching Development Officers. They will also receive Club based seminars, workshops and support with funding applications to assist with the further development of the programme.

RRC Rowing Sub Committee.
