It was a very busy weekend for the Wightlink sponsored Ryde Rowing Club (Friday, 9th to Sunday, 11th July) as the club competed in three different mainland events.

 

On the Friday the Clubs Veteran qualifying Senior Oarsman travelled to Henley to compete in the Henley Veterans Regatta, an event with International standing and a first for the Club. The coxless Quad of Russell Page, Ian Hayden, Mike Jenner and Nick Pike fought their way through to the final of the event where they came up against Cambridge B. C. of the USA who they lost to by just ¾ of a length. All four members of the Quad also raced in single sculls – Russell Page, Mike Jenner and Nick Pike in the Veteran C Category and Ian Hayden at Veteran B, Nick Pike and Ian Hayden reaching their respective finals where they were unfortunately both beaten.
