ITCHEN IMPERIAL R. C. REGATTA, Saturday, 25th June, 2011.

Ryde’s Junior squad dominated the J16 events once again at Itchen Imperial Rowing Clubs Regatta, on the River Itchen, on Saturday (25th June) with their two Coxed Fours - the "A" crew of - Dale Buckett, Sam Corney, Andreas Hicks and Max Reeve with Bryony Reeve coxing and the "B" crew of - Charlie Gedling, Charlie Norman, Joe Norman, Christian Lacey with Ed Newnham coxing - both comfortably winning their heats to face each other in the final – with the “A” crew winning another very close contest – with just a foot separating the two crews. Both these crews also competed in the Men’s Novice Fours event – the “A” crew reaching the semi-final of the event.

The Club’s J16 Sculler – Sam Corney – also had a good day winning the Boys J16 event to retain the title he won last year and the Club also had a representative in the winning Girls J16 crew with Sophie Brown racing in a composite crew with Poole Rowing Club.

Further success for the Club came in the Men’s Senior Sculls event with Ian Hayden winning his first coastal singles race of the season, to add to his GB Masters Gold medal, with the Club’s Mike Jenner finishing in 2nd place.

Three of the Clubs young Novice Ladies – Bryony Reeve, Gemma Smith and Sophie Brown raced in a composite four with Southampton, but were just beaten in to 2nd place in their heat and failed to make the next round.

Junior oarsman Dale Buckett teamed up with Ian Hayden to race in the double sculls event where they finished in 2nd place.
