Four members of Ryde Rowing Clubs Junior Squad competed in the GB Junior Inter Regional Regatta at the National Water Sports Centre, at Nottingham last Sunday (25th April) representing the Wessex Region. Their selection followed intensive training camps and selection trials in the region during the winter in which a number of other Ryde Juniors were involved and were unfortunate to miss on selection, where being Island based clearly puts them at a disadvantage. The Club has a long tradition of Juniors gaining selection but it is quite a few years since four of their Juniors have achieved regional representation.

The Four Juniors - Sam Corney, Dale Buckett, Holly Evans and Bryony Reeve travelled to Nottingham with their Coach and parents on the Saturday, supported by Wightlink, the Clubs main sponsors, who provided their ferry travel. Sam and Dale competed in the Boys J14 Coxed Quad, Holly in the Girls J15 Coxed Quad and Bryony coxed the Girls J16 Coxed Quad. Their performances helped the Wessex Region Team to finish in 9th place, which although one place down on last years was still a good result from one of the smallest rowing regions in the country.
