LYMINGTON REGATTA, 23rd JULY, 2005.

Ryde's trio of Senior Scullers dominated their event at Lymington Rowing Club Regatta, held at Milford on Sea, on Saturday. Defending Hants & Dorset Champion, Nick Pike won the event to close within one point of retaining this Championship. He was followed home by Matt Allsopp and Mike Jenner to give the Club its first ever one, two, three in a Senior Sculling event.

A second win for the Wightlink sponsored Club came in the men's Junior Fours where the crew of Dave Squibb, Ben Churchill, Matt Evans and Sam Cocker, coxed by Jodie Cocker, secured their fourth win of the season to establish a two point lead in the chase for this Championship and two represent the Association at the South Coast Championships at Bexhill in September.

The Men's Senior Four of Matt Allsopp, Mike Jenner, Ben Ade and Nick Pike, coxed by Jasmine Burr-Hersey rowed well to finished 2nd in the Men's Senior Fours and their was a good performance by the Ladies Novice crew of Rachael Middle, Amy Dibben, Hayley Edwards and Rachael Whitmarsh, coxed by Jodie Cocker who also finished 2nd in their final. Their steadily improving performance gives the Club high hopes for more Novice Ladies wins and a strong challenge for the Hants & Dorset Novice Ladies Championship.

The Clubs young Junior Ladies crew of Kim Salter, Sarah Lamb, Sophie Draper and Rachael Brimstone also performed well in their first Junior Race following their recent promotion from Novice status finishing in third place in their final.

Junior sculler, Steve Salter, back from University to resume his challenge for the Junior Sculls title, following his win earlier in the season, mounted a strong challenge in this very competitive event finishing 2nd, boosting his hopes of further wins. Novice Scullers Ben Churchill and Ben Ade both qualified for the final - Churchill taking yet another 2nd place for the Club with Ade 4th. Yet another 2nd place was achieved by Steve Salter and Ollie Bottrell in the Men's Senior Pairs.

This exceptional all round performance by the Club comfortably won then the aggregate shield for the best performing Club on the day and illustrates the strength in depth at the Club at this time.

The hunt for Hants & Dorset ARA Championship honours continues at Swanage Regatta on the 30th August.
