Silver & Bronze at the Nationals - Nottingham - July 1999
A superb result was achieved by Club crews at the National Rowing Championships, in
Nottingham in July - with both men's Coastal Crews, racing against opposition of higher
status gaining medals. The Junior Senior crew with Nick Pike covering for Lee Morey won a
Silver Medal in the Men's Coastal Coxed Fours with the Junior Crew, with Ben Ade covering
for Gary Ranson just behind in the Bronze medal position. Another fine performance came
from Richard Adams who, in his first race in a Coastal Scull fought through the repacharge
to gain a place in the final where unfortunately equipment failure resulted in last place.
The Club also boated Junior Crews in the River events for the first time - J16 4+ and a
J14 Coxed Quad. While neither crew made the final they were always in contention in the
races and gained valuable experience. Thanks to Carisbrooke Shipping for the
sponsorship of the J14 Crew.
