I refer you to the Ryde Regatta Club invitation letter which stated -
"The Ryde Regatta is limited, due to tidal constraints to a maximum of eighteen races. Following the introduction of additional Championship events in the last couple of seasons and the recommendation to trial other events the Club has decided to offer all these events subject to the level of entry. The events that have always carried Championship status at the South Coast Championships Regatta (# - i.e.. Men's Junior, Junior Senior and Senior Fours, and  Ladies Junior and Senior Fours) are guaranteed subject to them having at least two entries, as our the Novice Fours events - for Men and Ladies . All other events will be supported depending on entry and race availability, i.e.. if the Men's Junior pairs and Ladies Senior Sculls are as badly supported as in the last few years they may be dropped in favor of supporting one of the new Hants & Dorset Championship or trial events. If heats are not required in the fours events it may just be possible to support all events. Information of which events will be supported will be sent to all Clubs within 3 days of the entries closing and hopefully posted on the Clubs Regatta Web site - so that Crews can be advised if their event is not being staged in plenty of time. Entry fees for events not staged will be refunded. A Full Regatta Programme will be sent out at least one week before the Regatta"

I am now in a position to confirm that in addition to the guaranteed events as listed above (#) the following events WILL ALSO BE HELD -
MEN'S SENIOR PAIRS, MEN'S JUNIOR PAIRS, LADIES SENIOR PAIRS, LADIES JUNIOR PAIRS (Non Championship), MEN'S SENIOR SCULLS, MEN'S JUNIOR SCULLS, MEN'S NOVICE SCULLS,  VETERAN FOURS and DOUBLE SCULLS  (Non Championship).

The following events will NOT be staged -
LADIES SENIOR  SCULLS (no entries received) , LADIES NOVICE SCULLS and VETERAN "B" FOURS  (only one entry received).

The single entries received in the Ladies Novice Sculls and the Veteran "B" Fours have been offered a place in the Ladies Junior Sculls Race and the Veteran Fours Race. A they do not wish to take up this opportunity their entry fees will be refunded.

The only "trial" events are the Ladies Junior Pairs and the  double sculls - and will be the last races of the day - as  non championship races they have the most at risk positions on the program.

The Regatta Draw and order of events is as follows -

PRIZE GIVING - OUTSIDE CLUBHOUSE (Inside if Wet) - 16.30

Ref. the restriction on small boats to one entry per club per event, some Clubs have entered more than one crew in the these events. I have therefore assumed that the "A" crew entry is the entry for the guaranteed place and have regarded other entries as requests for late entries in accordance with the published rules - Events/Clubs/Crews involved are as follows -

Men's Single Sculls.
Senior - Southsea - B - Jeff Watling, C - Mick Gisborne.  Ryde - B - Mike Jenner, C - Matt Allsopp.
Junior - Ryde - B - Ian Hayden. Itchen Imperial - B - M. Wardell, C - P. Joyce, D - J. Riceman, E - D. Kelly.
Novice - Ryde - B - Stu Johnson, C - Tom Clark. Coalporters - B - M. Carey.
Ladies Single Sculls.
Junior - Coalporters - B - J. Langmead.
Double Sculls - Ryde B.

These requested late entries will be regarded as being received on the day of the Regatta and given equal preferance with those entered on the day in these event as per the published procedure.
