SWANAGE REGATTA, 30th JULY, 2005

Ryde Rowing Club's domination of the Men's Senior Sculls event at Hants & Dorset ARA Regatta's this season continued at Swanage Regatta on Saturday with their trio of Senior Scullers completing their second successive one, two, three in the event following a similar result at Milford Regatta the previous week. Nick Pike won the race and in doing so retained his Hants & Dorset ARA Senior Sculling Championship with Mike Jenner finishing second and Matt Allsopp third.

The Wighlink sponsored Club picked up their second win of the day when the Men's Junior Four of Dave Squibb, Matt Evans and Con and Christy Sullivan, coxed by Jodie Cocker, secured their fifth  win of the season to extend their lead in this Championship to three points. With just four Regatta's to go another win will give them an unassailable lead and ensure them of South Coast Championship representative honours.

The Men's Senior Four of Matt Allsopp, Mike Jenner, Nick Pike, Steve Salter and  coxed by Clare Salter produced another good performance finishing 2nd behind the impressive BTC Crew.  The Men's Junior Senior Crew of Mike Palin, Chris Walker, Ollie Bottell and Matt Bull with Clare Salter coxing again were just pushed into third in their final having been in contention throughout the race. The Ladies Junior Crew of Kim Salter, Jodie Cocker, Sophie Draper and Rachael Brimstone also finished third in another close race. The Novice Ladies Crew of  Rachael Middle, Amy Dibben, Hayley Edwards and Sarah Lamb, coxed by Jodie Cocker had a slightly disappointing race finishing third in their heat to just miss out on a place in the final and Junior sculler, Steve Salter will also have been slightly disappointed with his 4th place in the final as will Novice Scullers Ben Churchill who finished 3rd in his heat.

The mixed J16 Crew of James Ekland, Tom Clark, Kim Salter and Rachael Brimstone finished 3rd in their race against all male opposition and in the mixed race a crew of  Steve Salter, Ollie Bottrell, Rachael Brimstone and Hayley Edwards finished third.

This Saturday, 6th August  a slightly depleted team, as a result of holidays, will compete at Bournemouth Regatta
